The Mushroom Capital of the World will host its 34th Mushroom Festival, paying homage to the morel May 1-3, 2014. The event, recognized as one of Missouri's best festivals in Rural Missouri magazine touts more than 125 craft and food booths, a carnival, kiddie tractor pull sponsored by Richmond Farm and Lawn, 10k/5k walk and run sponsored by Anytime Fitness, talent show sponsored by Sonic, Christian music concert sponsored by Shirkey's Nursing and Rehab and Shirkey's Hospice, a grand parade sponsored by KFC/Taco Bell, a golf tournament, a car show sponsored by Hardtime Rodders Car Club, beer garden and live performances. This year, the Chamber is proud to bring to The Memorial Wall for Missouri Military who have lost their lives post 9-11. But for the purist, it's all about the morel. The Largest Moral Contest, sponsored by the Richmond News, draws hundreds of onlookers. Fresh morels will be available for purchase and a morel expert will give morel seminars during the festival.
