Description: | From Neosho's Fall Festival Website: The City of Neosho's Fall Festival is held annually in the Historic Downtown district. This is an Arts and Crafts Festival funded by the City of Neosho with supporting roles provided by the local Art's Council and the Newton County Historical Society and Museum.
The Art's Council occupies the Civic Center during the Saturday portion of the Festival, providing support and space for the vendors who present the items that are more of a fine arts genre. In 2018 the Art's Council will also have outdoor booth space available along the 100 block of West Main in front of the Civic Center.
The Newton County Historical Society and Museum offer a presentation of History Alley. This comprises almost an entire city block filled with Historically accurate presentations of various crafts, tasks, music and lifestyles of the mid-1800's. History Alley is located to the east side of the 200 block of North Washington.
With the Art's Council presentation just off the southwest corner of the Historic Downtown Square and History Alley just off the northeast corner of the Historic Downtown Square, the Square becomes the centerpiece of the the Fall Festival. Filling this area with vendors for all types of crafts, arts and most importantly food, exploring these many areas becomes a full day task. Along with the vendors, the stage area provides music throughout the day displaying a variety of genres as well as other dance and theatrical presentations.
Just off the southeast corner of the Historic Downtown Square is a carnival midway for the young and old alike. In addition, be certain to schedule a portion of Saturday morning to watch the coaster car races on south Washington Street next to the midway.
While parking exist throughout the area surrounding the Historic Downtown District, additional parking can be found in Morse Park, just north of the Lampo Center. As you are there waiting for a shuttle, take time to enjoy the lumberjack demonstrations and other outdoor exhibits. Venture inside the Lampo Center to see the Model Train swap meet and exhibits. Once your shuttle arrives, catch a ride to the Historic District and make a day of adventure and fun!
