Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo Announces Two Years of Airshows

Canadian Hornet Demo Team & F-16s in 2018; US Navy Blue Angels in 2019

CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Dec. 5, 2017 Today, in celebration of the Boeing F/A-18 Hornet's 40th Anniversary, the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo announced the event would be held in both 2018 and 2019, with the US Navy Blue Angels headlining the 2019 event.

"2018 marks the 40th anniversary of the F/A-18 Hornet's first flight," said John Bales, president of the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show committee and Spirit of St. Louis Airport director. "2018 will kick off two years of airshows in St. Louis, celebrating these made-in-St. Louis aircraft, while also thrilling attendees with phenomenal performances from other historic and modern aircraft."

The 2018 Spirit of St. Louis Air Show, scheduled for October 13-14, 2018, will feature the Canadian CF-18 demo team. Also joining the event for the first time will be the USAF F-16 Fighting Falcon demonstration team. These two dynamic teams will be joined by Skip Stewart in his aerobatic biplane and various other tactical air demonstrations.

The 2019 Spirit of St. Louis Air Show, scheduled for September 7-8, 2019, will be headlined by the US Navy Blue Angels in their made-in-Missouri Boeing F/A-18s.

Both airshows will be held at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport. Previous air shows had been held there in 2014 and 2016.

Additionally, in a change from previous years, all tickets will be sold online only.

"The event will also feature our phenomenal STEM expo on the ground, and will continue to inspire our next generation of leaders to take science, technology, engineering and math to the next level and beyond," Bales said.
